Two new reservation services are available for consumers traveling in the United States. One is the Peak Season Hotel Hotline in New York City, a joint operation of Hotel Reservations Network, a consolidator, and the New York Convention & Visitors Bureau.

A spokesman said the free, 24-hour telephone service can often find rooms in all price ranges even during sold-out periods. City hotel occupancy rates are at their highest level in almost a decade, said Bob Diener of Hotel Reservations Network. Call (800) 846-ROOM. The Convention & Visitors Bureau also has a new hot line dispensing visitor information. It is (800) NYC-VISIT.

Fodor’s Travel Publications, which includes the Mobil Travel Guides, also has created a toll-free reservation hotline any traveler can call 24 hours a day to book rooms at more than 40,000 U.S. lodgings. Callers pay standard lodging rates, receive any applicable discounts and can request help in finding the type of amenities they want. The numbers to call are (800) FODORS-1 or (800) 44-MOBIL.
