Former BankAmerica Corp. Exec Joins Montgomery Securities: Lewis W. Coleman, the bank holding company’s former vice chairman and chief financial officer, joined Montgomery as a senior managing director and co-director of investment banking, Montgomery said. Coleman, 53, will oversee the San Francisco-based firm’s financial services, real estate and fixed-income areas. His areas of responsibility will include one of Montgomery’s highest-profile projects, advising Wells Fargo & Co. in its hostile takeover bid for First Interstate Bancorp. Landing Coleman, who is well-respected in the Wall Street investment community, is seen as something of a coup for Montgomery, regarded as an up-and-comer among investment banks. Coleman had been considered a front-runner to succeed retiring BankAmerica Chairman Richard M. Rosenberg, but BofA in August named David A. Coulter instead.
