* PEPPERDINE (2-2) at CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE (1-2)

Time--7. Radio--KWNK (670).

The Matadors rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night, 77-76, and no longer need worry about opening their sixth consecutive season with a losing streak of at least three games. In fact, the Matadors have a chance to reach the .500 mark for only the second time in their six seasons in Division I. Northridge was 7-7 in 1992-93. Forward Damion Morbley, Northridge’s leading scorer, may not play again tonight. He did not play Saturday night because he was late to practice on Friday, and he sat out practice Monday. Center Kevin Taylor suffered a minor knee injury and sat out most of the second half Saturday, but he is expected to play tonight. The Waves are coming off a 69-59 victory over Georgia Southern in the consolation game of Nebraska’s tournament. Pepperdine figures to dominate Northridge’s small front line, with 7-foot center Gavin Van Der Putten and 6-8 forward Bryan Hill. Pepperdine’s three guards--Khary Hervey, Marques Johnson and Gerald Brown--are all quick and frequently drive to the basket. The Waves won, 68-52, last year, when the teams met for the first time since 1970.
