Fired Mother Gets Early Gift: Son Out of Coma

Associated Press

A woman who got her pink slip as her son lay comatose finally has some good news: He's out of the coma and may be home for the holidays.

"I'll remember it as my Christmas gift that came early," Margaret Graziano said.

Her 10-year-old son, Adam, suffered head injuries five weeks ago while in-line skating. While sticking close to his bedside, Graziano received word from her employer, Coastal Oil Corp., that her credit analyst job had been eliminated.

Adam spoke his first word Tuesday: "Mommy."
