Ethan Allen Thomas Jr. Isn’t the Only One

Re “I Thank God for Rescuing Me,” by Ethan Allen Thomas Jr. (Nov. 30): The saddest thing about this young man’s story is that he is not an isolated case. My heart breaks to think about all those youngsters out there today living the kind of life he led, and never reaching the full potential of their intelligence or ability.

For one brief moment, Ethan realized there was more to life than selling drugs and hanging with a gang, but it was snatched away from him long before he had attained his goals. What a waste. Who knows what he might have become.

And who knows how many others, just as bright and intelligent as he, are out there right now, living the same terrible lives, because no one cares enough about them to stop it.
