WORLD IN BRIEF : EGYPT : Ruling Party Wins National Elections

The government won a two-thirds majority in parliamentary elections that left opposition parties with just a handful of seats. Islamic activists warned that their frustrated supporters might resort to violence. The ruling National Democratic Party now has 317 of 444 seats in the People’s Assembly, or parliament.
