From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A suspect in an alleged plot to blow up U.S. commercial airliners was secretly flown to New York for arraignment in federal court after being arrested in the Far East. The suspect was not immediately identified by authorities, who are expected to unseal an indictment in the case today. The suspect was described as an associate of Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, the alleged mastermind of the 1993 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and a central figure in the alleged airliner bombing plot. The suspect was believed not to be involved in the trade center attack that killed six people and injured more than 1,000.
