Apple Opens Joint Software Venture in China: The company entered the growing Chinese computer market through a joint venture with China’s South Software Park Technology Co. Financial details were not released. Apple-SSP Technology Co., based in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, will develop Chinese-language versions of Macintosh software and sell Apple products based on the PowerPC chip. Apple Computer Inc. will train staff; South Software Park, a joint investment project of the Zhuhai government and China’s Ministry of Electronics Industry, will manage personnel.
