A powerful car bomb exploded in a busy marketplace in Peshawar, setting the city’s most fashionable store on fire and killing at least 25 people; 100 others were wounded, police and hospital officials said. No one immediately claimed responsibility. Peshawar’s Saddar Street market has both outdoor stalls and larger stores such as the three-story Wadood & Sons department store, which was engulfed in flames. Maj. Ghulam Hussain of the police bomb disposal unit said the bomb was probably on a timer and packed about 55 pounds of explosives.
