Why Not Just Sue the Sun for Rising?

Share

When will some of the adults in this country start taking responsibility for their own actions? I couldn’t believe my eyes that Mr. and Mrs. Cruz went to a Christmas party, drank too much, got in an accident and decided it really wasn’t their fault, but the bartender that served them the drinks (“Couple Sues Bar Chain Over Accident,” Dec. 14). How can we tell our children to just say no and to take responsibility for themselves when the adults around them set such poor examples?

Regarding the couple suing the bar, well, we’ve decided to sue them. You see, we have this compulsion to read the newspaper every morning and the article about them caused us emotional distress.

Then, while we’re at it, we think we’ll sue our newspaper delivery person. After all, he threw the paper onto our front walk, thus enabling us in our compulsion to read the news each morning, which caused us emotional distress when we read the article about the lawsuit.

And hey, what about The Times? Perhaps we should name them in a lawsuit as well. After all, if they hadn’t printed the article which caused us emotional distress, which the delivery person threw on our front walk, and which we were forced to read because of our compulsion--enough said. Personal responsibility be damned.
