Praxair Reaches Tentative Pact With FTC on CBI: The Danbury, Conn.-based industrial gases firm said it reached a tentative agreement with the Federal Trade Commission staff for its acquisition of CBI Industries Inc. in documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Oak Brook, Ill.-based CBI, the world’s largest maker of carbon dioxide, agreed on Dec. 22 to be acquired by Praxair for $33 a share, or $2.2 billion. Praxair Inc. said that more than 12.9 million shares of CBI have been tendered as part of that company’s takeover. Praxair filed a 14D-1 amendment to its tender offer for CBI shares. Praxair officials were not immediately available for comment. Shares in Praxair were up 50 cents at $33.875 on the New York Stock Exchange.
