THOUSAND OAKS : Deputies to Seek Out Intoxicated Drivers
- Share via
In an effort to crack down on motorists driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances, sheriff’s deputies in Thousand Oaks will conduct a mobile DUI search today.
Four additional patrol cars, each with two officers from the Traffic Bureau, will be cruising the city between 7 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday, looking for motorists driving under the influence.
Deputies will also stand by all weekend for reports of loud or disturbing parties. On the first complaint, an officer will visit the house. Any further complaints could result in fines as high as $1,000.
In addition, deputies are warning residents that it is illegal to fire handguns and rifles into the air on New Year’s Eve. Those caught doing so can be charged with a felony: discharging a firearm in a grossly negligent manner.
