World IN BRIEF : PHILIPPINES : 9 Terrorist Suspects Arrested in Raids
The brother of the man suspected of masterminding the World Trade Center bombing in New York is believed to be among nine terrorism suspects arrested during raids in Manila, authorities said. Interior Secretary Rafael Alunan did not detail the allegations against the men but offered explosives, detonating cord and other material seized in Friday’s raids as evidence they were terrorists. Alunan said that one of the men, Adel Anonn, whose passport was issued by Iraq, “is known to be or reportedly a brother” of Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, who allegedly planned the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Anonn denied being Yousef’s brother.
