Abortion May Be a Costly Issue for GOP

Share

At last, a Republican Party official--Karen Kurth, county party chairwoman--has the courage to publicly admonish the religious conservatives who have tried to make the abortion issue the cornerstone of the Republican agenda.

The majority of mainstream Republicans may not approve of abortion, but we do not want a constitutional amendment outlawing the procedure. We also do not want the government interfering with the right of any woman to make decisions about her reproductive life. If the Republicans do not remove this controversial issue from their party platform at the convention next summer, chances are President Clinton will wind up back in the White House.
