Two Teens Arrested in Car Scraping Incidents
Two 15-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with a rash of car vandalism in the Woodbridge residential area over the past month.
According to police, the teenagers admitted the vandalism after being stopped by an officer who had noticed a bolt protruding from the handlebar of a bicycle one of them rode. The bolt was the same height as scrape marks found on at least 20 cars in the area during December.
The two boys, both students at Woodbridge High School, were released to the custody of their parents pending a decision by the county district attorney’s office on whether to charge them.
Under California law, the parents of juveniles causing damage to the property of others may be liable for amounts up to $25,000.
The boys’ names were withheld because of their age.
