Trade Surplus Rises to $16.7 Billion in ‘95: That total is up from the $5.3 billion for 1994, according to General Administration of Customs preliminary figures. 1995 exports rose to $148.8 billion from $121 billion, and imports rose to $132.1 billion from $115.70 billion, the New China News Agency reported. An estimate released Jan. 6 by the State Statistical Bureau indicated that China would have a trade surplus of about $20 billion for 1995. The two agencies use different calculating methods.
