Teaching Emotionally Disturbed Students
Parents, teachers and professionals who work with students who have emotional problems can register this week for a conference dealing with the subject.
The deadline to sign up for the workshop, sponsored by the Ventura County Special Education Local Plan Area, is Friday. The conference will be held Feb. 2 at the Oxnard Community Center.
This year’s keynote speaker is Richard Villa of the Bayridge Educational Consortium in Vermont. He will discuss the difference between punishment and discipline and innovative methods of dealing with difficult learners.
Workshop topics include dealing with children with attention deficit disorder, eliciting positive behavior, and sex education for emotionally disturbed students.
The cost of the conference is $30. For more information, call 383-1919.
