Crew director Shinichi Kubo says the Japanese audience is interested in almost anything American: “Surfing, skiing, snowboarding. Especially our young people. American history fascinates them.”

TAXING PROBLEM: What do you do if your dispute with the IRS isn’t over enough money to make it worth hiring a lawyer? Help is available--for those who have already petitioned the court for a hearing--at Western State University’s College of Law. The rookie played for the national collegiate champion Nebraska Cornhuskers last year.

TACO WORSHIP: You figure Madonna or Joe Montana for fan clubs. But Taco Bell? A group of students at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York have started an Internet home page fan club for the Irvine-based fast-food chain. . . . It includes the latest on Taco Bell products and has its own “Find the Taco” game. But the Mirsky group, a national organization, has voted it a Worst of the Web Award for a graphic, showing the inside of a soft taco, that didn’t turn out too well.
