Apple Reportedly Shopping Itself Around: Discussions between the company and Sun Microsystems Inc. broke off earlier this month when the two were unable to agree on a price, the Wall Street Journal said, citing sources. And a recent overture by Apple to Hewlett-Packard Co. brought no interest. Earlier this week, Apple Computer Inc. reported a $69-million loss for the last three months of 1995 and announced a restructuring that would narrow its product focus and eliminate 1,300 jobs. Apple stock fell $2.0625 to close at $29.875 on Nasdaq. Apple has been the subject of takeover rumors for more than a year. In 1994, IBM Corp. reportedly offered to buy it but executives disagreed on price.
