A newly opened medical center offers health care that is not only close to home, but available in Spanish, Armenian and Russian.

The QueensCare Family Medical Center, which is affiliated with the Queen of Angels-Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, employs 16 doctors, nurses and support staff who are fluent in at least one language other than English.

The month-old center officially opened Thursday. Dignitaries attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony included Archbishop Vatche Hovsepian of the Armenian Apostolic Church Western Diocese and Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky.

The clinic focuses on preventive care and will provide free cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes and pregnancy testing throughout 1996, spokesman John Krikorian said. Medi-Cal patients and walk-ins are welcome.

“If you need help and you don’t have a penny, we’ll try to find funding for you,” Krikorian said.

QueensCare offers family and internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, dental and eye care and a pharmacy.

“It’s like one-stop shopping for health,” Krikorian said.

The clinic, at 12157 Victory Blvd. in North Hollywood, is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
