Criminals Steal Legally Purchased Guns
The letter from Debra Hope (Letters in Life & Style, Jan. 14) is pure NRA-speak.
I am not aware that any gun control extremist has said, as the letter asserts, that law-abiding citizens’ right to bear arms will lead to more crime. There’s no doubt, however, that proliferation of guns will produce more injuries and deaths.
Use of phrases such as “aware, responsible adult,” “law-abiding citizens” and “responsible citizens protecting themselves” leads one to believe that all the people in the world wear badges that indicate one is either the law-abiding citizen or a criminal and that the law-abiding citizen will stay that way for life.
The black market in guns is very simple: The criminals steal them from those who have purchased guns.
