Campbell to Sell Seafood Unit: The soup maker, the largest in the United States, said it agreed to sell its Mrs. Paul’s frozen seafood business to a group of private investors that also owns Van de Kamp’s frozen seafood. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The sale includes the Mrs. Paul’s trademark, production equipment and inventories, but will not include any of Campbell’s manufacturing plants, the company said. The business, which Campbell Soup Co. acquired in 1982, had sales of about $80 million in 1995. Campbell said it expects employee reductions at its Omaha plant, where Mrs. Paul’s products are made, through normal attrition. Camden, N.J.-based Campbell said Mrs. Paul’s does not fit with its long-term strategy.
