USAir Posts Its 1st Annual Profit Since ’88

USAir Group Inc. reported a profit Monday in the fourth quarter on higher revenue and continued cost cutting, turning around from a year-ago loss and posting its first annual profit since 1988.
The Arlington, Va.-based airline said net income totaled $60.3 million, or 61 cents a share, contrasted with a loss of $322 million, or $5.63, a year earlier. Wall Street expected 43 cents a share.
