A man was convicted of murder Monday for killing an Inglewood ice cream vendor and wounding the vendor’s wife during a robbery.

A jury convicted Jones of first-degree murder, attempted murder, robbery, carjacking and kidnapping.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Cynthia Rayvis said during the trial that Refugio Garcia, 44, resisted being forced out of the ice cream truck on Nov. 14, 1994, and was shot in the chest by Jones. Jones then stole the truck with Garcia’s wife, Carmen Osorio, 42, inside, after which he shot Osorio in the arm, took her purse and fled.
