Japan’s Vehicle Output Down Again in 1995: The fall--for the fifth successive year--was blamed on poor exports caused by the strong yen and higher overseas production by Japanese car makers. It was the second year in a row that Japanese vehicle output was below that of the United States. Japan’s output led the world for the 14 previous years. Domestic vehicle production in 1995 fell 3.4% from a year earlier to 10.2 million vehicles, according to figures from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Assn. The production of passenger cars fell 2.4% from a year earlier to 7.61 million, also the fifth consecutive year of decline. The output of trucks fell 6.1% to 2.54 million and that of buses fell 3.8% to 47,266. Both fell for the first time in two years.
