World IN BRIEF : NICARAGUA : Gunmen Kill Guard but Miss Candidate

Gunmen shot at conservative presidential candidate Arnoldo Aleman on the campaign trail, missing him but killing a bodyguard and wounding three others. The attack happened in the remote mountain town of Wiwili, about 100 miles northeast of Managua, Interior Minister Sergio Narvaez said. Police said the estimated 15 attackers had not been identified. The attack was the first reported preelection violence in a wide campaign field that includes hard-line rightists and leftist Sandinistas.
