The shared cultural history of Jews and blacks will be the focus of the brotherhood breakfast of the Valley Jewish Business Leaders Assn. on Thursday.
“We will speak a lot about the necessity for economic development within the San Fernando Valley, especially in reference to affirmative action, how it relates to the minority community and that economic development,” said the Rev. Zedar Broadous, who will address the group.
Broadous, president of the Valley branch of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People, will speak about the importance of the Million Man March and about “the heritage of slavery, the heritage of the Holocaust [and] the heritage of discrimination which is still going on.”
Tickets for the breakfast are $20 for nonmembers and $15 for members of the Valley Jewish Business Leaders Assn.
The breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Warner Center Marriott, 21850 Oxnard St., Woodland Hills.
