Advanced Logic Expands Low-Price Line

Advanced Logic Research Inc. expanded its line of entry-level computers Monday in what company officials said is an effort to build sales in low-price market segments.

Advanced Logic added two new computer models--a full-size desktop and a mini-tower PC--to its Optima series, the company’s most inexpensive line of computers. The company, based in Irvine, is best known as a maker of network servers and other more powerful PCs.

Marc Tanguay, product manager, said the new models enable the company to offer a broader selection to corporate customers.

“What customers want is a solution with one phone call,” Tanguay said. Previously, he said, customers who wanted inexpensive PCs to go with their higher priced ALR network servers “often would have to go elsewhere.”

The new machines, which are equipped with Pentium processors made by Intel, range in price from $1,245 to $2,749.
