Authorities seized heroin with a value of $10,000 at an Oxnard residence Monday and arrested an Oxnard man and his wife on suspicion of selling the narcotic.

Marco Hernandez, 24, and his wife, Graciela, 20, were booked into the Ventura County Jail. Based on information culled from a two-month undercover investigation, Marco Hernandez was suspected of distributing thousands of dollars of tar heroin in the county each week, said Lt. Craig Husband, Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotics Bureau.

Narcotics investigators arrested Hernandez as they allegedly negotiated the purchase of one ounce of heroin at a Channel Islands Boulevard market Monday. Hernandez attempted to flee and rammed two patrol cars but was captured, Husband said.

His wife was subsequently arrested at the couple’s Sycamore Drive home, where police said several grams of tar heroin were also discovered.
