Seven local charities will receive money from the Anaheim Community Services Agency under a plan approved recently by the City Council.

Acting on recommendations of the Community Services Board, the council awarded $10,000 each to the Anaheim Family YMCA, the Anaheim Interfaith Shelter and the Ecumenical Service Alliance.

The council also gave $5,500 to the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim, $2,000 to the Anaheim Museum, $2,000 to the Children’s Bureau and $500 to a Salvation Army youth outreach program.

These latest grants for the 1995-96 fiscal year came in addition to nearly $129,000 that the city awarded to nine community service groups last July.

Receiving the largest grant at that time was the Anaheim Interfaith Shelter, which was allocated $30,000.

In other action, the council approved landscape plans for 10 historic homes which were moved to Atchison Street in downtown Anaheim during the summer of 1994.

The landscaping will include decorative gateways, arbors and brick walkways.

Rehabilitation of the buildings is taking place through an agreement between the city Redevelopment Agency and the Anaheim Historic Preservation Foundation.

Restoration work is nearly completed, and a grand opening is scheduled for March 9.
