NBC said Sunday’s Super Bowl was watched by more people than any show in television history. The network estimated total viewership at 138,488,000, eclipsing the 1994 Super Bowl between Dallas and Buffalo, watched by an estimated 134,800,000. The Super Bowl received an average national rating of 46.1, up 12% from last year and the highest rating number since 1986, when NBC did a 48.3 with New England and Chicago. The record is the 1982 Super Bowl between San Francisco and Cincinnati on CBS at 49.1.
