International engineering and architectural firm Holmes & Narver Inc. said it has received four significant new contracts, including the design and engineering of an emergency communications center at Los Alamos, N.M., site of one of the nation’s major atomic weapons laboratories.

In addition to the Los Alamos job, awarded jointly by the federal Department of Energy and a group of local government agencies, Holmes & Narver also has been retained as technical advisor on a public awareness program involving major street and freeway construction in and around Albuquerque, N.M.

The company has been retained by Los Angeles County to assess structural damage to the county’s Central Jail Complex resulting from the 1994 Northridge earthquake. Holmes & Narver also was awarded a three-year contract to provide construction inspection and to write pollution control guidelines for Caltrans storm water management projects in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
