Herman Huntman; Electrical Engineer for Many L.A. Skyscrapers

Herman Huntman, 87, electrical engineer for many of Los Angeles’ skyscrapers. The son of German immigrants, Huntman began his career as a stonemason in Chicago, carving railings and other pieces on Chicago landmark structures. During the Depression, he studied electrical engineering and recruited members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Moving to Los Angeles in the 1950s, Huntman helped create the electrical systems for Occidental (now TransAmerica) Towers, Broadway Plaza and the Bank of America Tower. He was active as a 32nd-degree Mason and member of Al Malaikah Shrine and Scottish Rite. On Saturday in Hollywood of pulmonary fibrosis.
