*** John Anderson, “Paradise,” BNA. Possibly country’s most consistent hitter these days, Anderson can turn even the occasional formula lyric into an honest expression, and no matter how far he stretches a word for effect, his signature idiosyncratic vocals never become mannered. Mark Knopfler and the Band’s Levon Helm are among the guests, but it’s Anderson’s show all the way.
