. . . The Irvine-based Marie Callender’s restaurant chain was sold to Ramada Inns Inc. for $90 million in cash and stock. New owners of the 115-unit chain planned to abandon efforts to go upscale. “We will go back to what we do best: sell pies,” said Don Callender, whose mother, Marie, began the family pie business in 1948.
