CompuServe Unit Launches Internet Service: The new Internet-only service by a subsidiary of the online company seeks to capitalize on the growing interest in the worldwide computer network. Dubbed Sprynet, the service includes an option allowing unlimited access for $19.95 a month and local telephone numbers in 147 countries. Tim Oren, vice president and general manager of the division, based in suburban Seattle, said the product is part of CompuServe’s growth strategy. CompuServe’s core information service, which includes content from hundreds of providers as well as Internet access, has 4.2 million users worldwide, making it one of the two biggest online providers. The other is America Online Inc., which launched an Internet-only service last year.
