Lincoln Satellite Link: Ford Motor Co.’s Lincoln Mercury division, banking on consumer concerns about safety, has introduced an electronic feature that, with the touch of a button, calls the police and gives the whereabouts of the caller. The caller’s location is revealed using a global positioning satellite computer. Another feature Lincoln Mercury will offer is zero-air-pressure, or run-flat, tires. The tires, manufactured by Michelin Corp., remain functional for up to 50 miles after air pressure is lost, depending on driving conditions. Zero-pressure tires add about $645 to the purchase price of a Lincoln Continental, which starts at $41,000. The tires and electronic security feature add about $1,995; the security system is not sold separately.
