Southeast : VANDALISM PROTECTION

Share

Young and old don’t always mix. But rarely is it necessary to put up a barrier to keep them apart.

Such is the case, however, at the Betty Wilson Center for Seniors in Santa Fe Springs. Recent vandalism has forced city officials to approve construction of a $20,000 fence around the center’s patio.

Although no one reported seeing vandals switch on the center’s gas barbecues--and leave them unlit--authorities suspect that the culprits may have been students at adjacent Lake Center Junior High.

The newly opened center is located on school grounds next to athletic fields run by both the city and the Little Lake City School District. The district Board of Trustees must first approve the fence, which could be installed within two months.
