Valleywide : Schools Lauded for Academic Excellence
Two San Fernando Valley schools were honored for academic excellence by the U.S. Department of Education, officials announced Thursday.
Selected as Blue Ribbon Schools were two Catholic high schools, Notre Dame in Sherman Oaks and Louisville in Woodland Hills.
This year, 266 public and private institutions nationwide were named Blue Ribbon Schools.
Federal officials said each school had challenging academic standards, low dropout rates, documented student achievement, excellent teaching and a strong partnership with their communities.
