World IN BRIEF : GERMANY : U.S. Soldier Killed in Bosnia Remembered
Tearful comrades hailed the first U.S. peacekeeper killed in Bosnia as a “soldier’s soldier” who regarded the Army as his extended family. At a memorial service at his old base in Budingen, Germany, taps echoed through an old gymnasium for Sgt. 1st Class Donald A. Dugan, 38, who died in an explosion. “When you look at the accomplishments of this soldier, it becomes apparent that he was a magnificent soldier,” said Lt. Col. Gregory Stone. Dugan’s wife, Miriam, issued a statement saying: “The Army was Donald’s life, and I am happy that he was doing what he liked doing most when he died--his job with the Army.”
