‘Simple Justice’

Share

This 1993 docudrama effectively, though not faultlessly, centers on the crusading career of the Supreme Court’s first African American justice, Thurgood Marshall, played by Peter Francis James (second from right). “Simple Justice” tracks some of the dead-ends and hairpin curves along the winding legal road that these underfinanced underdogs pugnaciously follow for 20 years, culminating in Brown vs. Board of Education, the 1954 Supreme Court decision that barred racial segregation in public schools. With Michael Burgess, Scott Whitehurst and Donald Chambers (from left) playing fellow law students (Disney Monday at 11 p.m.).
