Pacific International Merger Called Off

Pacific International Enterprises Inc. said it has called off merger negotiations with Galena Creek Trading Co., maker of Smiley brand ski hats. At the same time, Pacific International also terminated its offer to Robert Hall to become the president and chief executive.

Pacific International said although it had a nonbinding letter of intent with Galena Creek, the Los Alamitos company concluded that the deal would not be in the best interest of either party at this time.
