Clyde C. Henley; ‘Rose Man’ at the Huntington

Clyde C. Henley, 84, known as “the rose man” for his work in the Huntington Library and Gardens. A graduate of Purdue University who served in the Army during World War II, Henley spent his career as sales manager for Ralston Purina Co. His retirement in 1972 left more time for his avocation--growing roses. He applied his considerable talents to 128 prize rosebushes in his Glendora garden and to those in the Huntington Gardens, where he was a longtime volunteer. A fund has been established by the Huntington in Henley’s name to support its rose garden. On Feb. 4 in Glendora.
