Nation IN BRIEF : MARYLAND : Clinton to Convene Anti-Drug Meeting
President Clinton will convene a national conference in early March to design a campaign to reduce drug-related violence among the young, the White House announced. The announcement came one day after the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Orrin G. Hatch (R-Utah), said the government’s war against drugs was in retreat with Clinton bearing part of the blame. The White House said Clinton is calling in 300 national and community leaders for an all-day conference to be held on March 7 at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Md.
