Symbols Aside: The musician who prefers to be known by an unpronounceable symbol returned to his given name of Prince Rogers Nelson when he married his back-up dancer, Mayte Jannell Garcia, in a 35-minute candlelit Valentine’s Day ceremony Wednesday at a Minneapolis Methodist church. The artist formerly known as Prince had previously said he would wed Garcia in Paris, but French residency requirements apparently forced a change in plans.

Slick Rick Moving On: Rapper Slick Rick (the hit song “La-Di-Da-Di”), who received a sentence of three to 10 years in jail for attempted murder in 1991, has earned a slot on a work release program and is preparing to make an album, his publicist said Tuesday. The musician, whose real name is Ricky Walters, now spends two nights a week at a state facility in New York City and the rest of the time at home with his mother and 6-year old son. He went to prison after opening fire on his cousin, whom he had suspected of theft.
