Long Beach CLO Bankruptcy Plans: Long Beach Civic Light Opera, in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, won’t present the rest of its 1995-96 season--scheduled productions of “Pippin,” “Evita” and “My Fair Lady”--but will present five sets of concerts featuring celebrities singing Broadway music. The concerts are designed to raise money for a return to musicals in 1997. The company’s 17,800 subscribers are being asked to keep their tickets, which will be good for one musical per season in 1997-99 or for refunds, according to a plan that will be presented to the bankruptcy court. The first weekend of concerts are planned for May 3-5, featuring (so far) Gwen Verdon, John Raitt, JoAnn Worley and Barry Bostwick.

Musicals, Times Four: Theater League has slated four musicals for its 1996-97 season at the Alex Theatre in Glendale and Probst Center at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. The schedule: William Katt in “The Will Rogers Follies” (Alex, Sept. 10-15; Probst, Sept. 17-22); Sam Harris in “Godspell” (Alex, Nov. 5-10; Probst, Nov. 19-24); Jerry Stiller and Lainie Kazan in “Fiddler on the Roof” (Alex, Feb. 11-16, 1997; Probst, Feb. 18-23, 1997); and John Rubinstein and Dale Kristien in “Camelot” (Probst, April 29-May 4, 1997; Alex, May 6-11, 1997). Additionally, Theater League will present a revue of Allan Sherman songs, “Hello, Muddah! Hello, Fadduh!,” in the smaller Forum Theater at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Aug. 6-Sept. 8.
