World IN BRIEF : CANADA : Chretien Scuffles With Protester
Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien scuffled with a demonstrator in Hull, Quebec, grabbing the man by the neck to push him into the hands of a police officer at a ceremony marking Canada’s Flag Day. Chretien was slowly making his way through a throng of people when Bill Clennett, one of several protesters angered over unemployment insurance cuts, jumped in front of the prime minister and shouted in French that Chretien should be unemployed. The prime minister grabbed Clennett’s jaw with one hand and neck with the other, witnesses said. Clennett was questioned but not immediately charged.
