SCC’s Balanced Offense Sinks Fresno Pacific

Four Southern California College players scored in double figures as the visiting Vanguards beat Fresno Pacific, 81-65, Tuesday in a Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball game.

Robert Darville scored 16, Kevin Carlson 14, Eric Walker 11 and Marlon Watson 10 for SCC (18-11, 8-5), which is a game behind second-place Concordia with one game to play. The teams meet at SCC Friday at 7:30 p.m.

In another Golden State Athletic Conference games:

Concordia 88, Point Loma Nazarene 80--Tarik James scored 25 points, 21 of which came on seven three-pointers, and had eight rebounds for Concordia (20-8, 9-4). Teammate Jaime Jaquez scored 15 points. The Eagles remain one game behind Azusa Pacific with one left to play.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s games:

Concordia 88, Point Loma Nazarene 72--Concordia used a 56-point second half to defeat host Point Loma Nazarene (10-20, 5-7) in the Crusaders’ final regular-season game. Heather Carll scored 24 points and had 15 rebounds for Concordia (22-7, 8-3).

Fresno Pacific 62, Southern California College 40--The Vanguards converted only four of 29 shots in the first half and fell behind by 18. Elaine Whittemore scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, eight on offense, for visiting SCC (10-18, 2-9).

In nonconference baseball:

Chapman 5, UC San Diego 3--Josh Fallon’s three-run double in the second inning gave Chapman a 4-0 lead. Matt Marquez went three for five with a run batted in for the Panthers (5-2).
