The controversial rapper’s sales last week exceeded the combined total for the rest of the Top 5: Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill,” the “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack, Mariah Carey’s “Daydream” and Oasis’ “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” Also debuting among the Top 10: Wynonna’s “Revelations” at No. 9 and the Gin Blossoms’ “Congratulations I’m Sorry” at No. 10.

Jarvis vs. Michael, Cont.: Jarvis Cocker, the lead singer of the band Pulp who was arrested in London Monday night for leaping on stage and disrupting Michael Jackson’s performance during the Brit Awards, says his actions were “a form of protest at the way Michael Jackson sees himself as some Christ-like figure with the power of healing.” Cocker also denies that he caused the injuries of three children in the incident, saying he “didn’t make any physical contact with anyone as far as I recall.” Cocker has demanded an apology from Epic Records over its statement from Jackson saying that the injured children were “attacked,” and says he is getting legal advice about whether he can sue Jackson and Epic over the statement. Injuries to the children, a 12-year-old girl and two 11-year-old boys who were performing with Jackson, ranged from a cut ear to bruised ribs. No charges have been filed against Jarvis.
