Los Angeles Community College District officials are scheduled to travel to New York City in March to interview one of three finalists for the position of Pierce College president, district officials said.

Chancellor Neil Yoneji and two other board members will spend about two days in New York, said Blair Sillers, a district spokesman. A final decision on the position is not expected until at least March 20, the date of a regularly scheduled board meeting, Sillers said.

The district has never officially named the three finalists, who are said to be Bing Inocencio, associate provost at New York City Technical College; Kamiran “Kim” Badrkhan, academic affairs vice president at Long Beach City College, and Christopher O’Hearn, a vice president at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.

Meanwhile, Jack Fujimoto, former president of Mission College, was officially named acting president of Pierce College on Wednesday.

The board voted 6 to 0 to hire Fujimoto, who was recommended for the post by Yoneji.

Fujimoto, 67, replaces Pierce College’s former acting president, Mary Lee, who asked to be reassigned after learning that she had been passed over for the permanent post by a selection committee.

Fujimoto’s pay will be based on the $92,196 annual salary he was paid at Mission, district officials said.
